At the Global Citizens Festival, Beyonce introduced Michelle Obama during her set. The First Lady then shared her new campaign entitled “62 Million Girls- Yearbook” along with Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai where they shared a startling statistic about girls and their education.
Currently, there are 62 million girls around the world who are out of school due to social and economical reasons. The site 62MillionGirls.com mission statement says, “Education helped all of us become who we are today. But more than 62 million girls around the world – half of whom are adolescent – are denied the right to an education. When girls aren’t given the chance to realize their potential, the whole world loses out,” and this is true in every way.
C’mon ladies! Spread awareness via social media by taking a photo of yourself and caption it “I learned to _________ in school, #62MillionGirls don’t have that chance.” Join the cause by sharing via your socials!
